Supporting your compliance
TenantTalk acts as a data processor under UK GDPR, providing the technical infrastructure for your property communication. As the landlord or letting agent, you remain the data controller and are responsible for ensuring your use of the platform aligns with your privacy obligations, including maintaining a lawful basis for processing and providing tenants with appropriate privacy notices.
Your Data Protection Rights
We provide tools to help you fulfill your tenants' data protection rights:
- Right to Access: Management records are retained and available via formal record requests.
- Right to Rectification: Tenant information can be updated instantly via your management dashboard.
- Right to Erasure: Tenants can opt-out at any time by texting STOP.
Privacy by Design
TenantTalk employs a data minimisation approach for tenant-to-tenant coordination. Messages sent via the Tenant Chat Number are relayed between housemates to facilitate coordination but are not stored in TenantTalk’s application database or shown in the manager dashboard. This privacy-by-design choice ensures that management records only contain professional, management-related communication.
We only collect the data necessary to provide our service and do not share it with third parties unless required by law or to provide the service (e.g., Twilio for SMS, Stripe for payments).
